ONE BUTTON SUIT TO OPEN SPRING FESTIVAL
We’re thrilled to introduce One Button Suit to kick off the Main Stage on Thursday. This Sacramento-based, five-piece ensemble of instrumentalists performs a repertoire of original material and traditional bluegrass tunes, especially tailored for our California climate. One Button Suit features Brian Burke (lead guitar), Tom Shewmake (mandolin), Casey Lipka (bass), Tim Tobias (guitar) and Melissa Lincoln (fiddle). All members contribute their vocal harmonies to an expertly woven tapestry of strings. What a fun way to begin the festival! We’ll see you there in just 27 days…
ISMAY WILL DEBUT AT FALL STRAWBERRY
Coming from the coastal hills of Petaluma, Ismay represents the work of singer, songwriter and horseback adventurer Avery Hellman. Immersed in traditional American music since her earliest memories of her Grandfather, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival founder Warren Hellman, Avery learned to sing and play by performing the music of iconic bluegrass, old time and folk musicians. Over time, a variety of modern day musings have combined to shape Ismay’s carefully constructed lyrics and melodies. The result of such varied influences in music and life has allowed young Hellman to forge an eloquent style of folk music that fuses past, present, and future tenses. Appearing at the Fall Festival as a duo, Avery will join forces with Jan Purat on violin and vocals. We can’t wait to welcome this talented twosome to Strawberry, making their Main Stage debut, on Sunday afternoon.
BARWICK & SIEGFRIED TO KICK OFF FRIDAY’S FESTIVITIES THIS SPRING
Since Pete Siegfried moved to Grass Valley in the 1970’s he has earned a reputation for his distinct tenor vocals and mandolin maneuvers, as the founder of the Northern California bluegrass band, Mountain Laurel. Sacramento native, Kathy Barwick is an award winning multi-instrumentalist who is known for her adept versatility as an acoustic folk musician and is also a former member of Mountain Laurel. Now performing as Barwick & Siegfried they have combined their experience with an innate musical chemistry to create this flawless Americana duo. Together they are enchanting audiences near and far, having toured extensively throughout Ireland, as well as playing prestigious venues throughout the west. We’re pleased that they’ll be bringing their special blend of bluegrass, old-time country, Americana and traditional Irish music to Strawberry this Spring!
RUSTY STRINGFIELD TO OPEN FRIDAY’S MAIN STAGE AT FALL FEST
Born in San Francisco’s Mission District, this high energy four-piece has spilled out of their corner pub and onto some of the finest stages in town. No song is safe once Rusty Stringfield gets fired up, on the street corner, round the campfire or at Strawberry’s Music Meadow. Russell Ives, Russell Simon, Matt Lauer, and Ben “Jacobs” consistently deliver tight harmonies, tasty instrumentals, all done up with a side of accordion. Take a twisted trip from traditional bluegrass to soul, reggae and arena rock (maybe all at once). Prepare thyself for a food stompin’, two steppin’ good time. Yee-Ha!
