You might think combining the West African balafon (ancestor of the Marimba) with bluegrass style banjo sounds like a surprising combo, but as Pascal Bokar’s AfroBlueGrazz Band will show you, it makes perfect, blissful sense.
Add to that some high-velocity be-bop scat guitar, fiddle, sabar drums, keyboards, bass, vocals, and you’ve got yourself Bokar’s brainchild – a whole new genre.
“This eclectic cross-cultural mix brings together long lost musical relatives as a platform for Pascal’s rich guitar and vocal improvisation.” – Bay Area Latin Jazz Festival.
While paying homage to Bokar’s Senegalese and Malian roots, AfroBlueGrazz clearly celebrates Afro-funk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, R&B and gospel at once, creating one big, happy party.
Innovative, joyous, and compelling – we are super excited to join that party!
