R.I.P. LARRY POWERS

It is with a heavy heart that we share news that longtime Strawberry crew member, Larry Powers passed away last week, due to complications from a scheduled surgery. Larry was known for his disarming sensibility, capability, ingenuity, kindness, and humorous wit, in every circle he navigated. Freely giving all of the above, his contribution to the festival is beyond measure, over many years time spent on both Set Up and Brush Crews. There are many stories floating around about Larry and how he always had the right tool to make any job easier. His name came up recently as having solved a hard rock problem at last year’s Fall Festival with a Makita and a spade bit. We were wondering what we would do without Larry, this Fall, while he was to be recovering from the surgery and now we are wondering what we will do without him, from now on. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Larry’s daughter has been hoping to hold services before she returns home to Rhode Island, on August 18th, but it’s been difficult to make that plan because of the fires, so services are likely to be held later in January and we will share that information when it is confirmed. A remembrance will also be held during the festival by the Brush Crew, so come prepared to wear your Hawaiian shirt in honor of Larry’s signature style. Larry’s loved ones would really appreciate hearing your stories, of which we know there are many, so please feel free to share them here and we will make sure that your messages are received by immediate family.
