JASON LANG

Jason Lang's onset into folk music began at the age of three, sitting in the kitchen with his mother, Canadian folk music icon Penny Lang, surrounded by family, friends, and instruments, where everyone, including Jason, was encouraged to participate any way that came to mind in the moment. At six years old, he did his very first recording session, and by sixteen, he was playing local clubs in and around his hometown of Montreal. A short time after that, Jason began his career as a recording and touring musician, making records and performing with some of Canada's most successful artists, starting with folk-music-royalty's own Kate & Anna McGarrigle.

For over thirty years, he steered his way through many styles of music, from cajun & zydeco, to pop and rock, and made multi-million selling albums with many artists, including Corey Hart, Amanda Marshall, Roch Voisine, Isabelle Boulay and more. This year finds Jason Lang returning to his folk music roots as he revisits songs written and performed by his late mother. In his own words, Jason says, "it's like slipping back into a pair of old comfortable shoes. Everything just fits.' Although the guitar is his primary instrument, Jason plays drums, percussion, bass, piano and harmonica. He is also a self-taught professional recording and mix engineer with over twenty albums to his credit. Jason’s latest project is a tribute to his mom, entitled Handled with Care, out now.
