Painted Mandolin is back by popular demand for the Fall Festival! With jamming instrumentals and soaring harmonies, Painted Mandolin explores the acoustic side of Jerry Garcia…from his Jug Band days, to Old and In the Way, through the Dead’s ‘Reckoning period and the Garcia Grisman Band. These guys were a big hit at last year’s Fall Festival when they appeared on the Main Stage as a tweener, as well as at their shows in the Food Court and on the Play Stage. Painted Mandolin is Joe Craven (violin/percussion/mandolin) who needs no introduction as beloved instrumentalist, Larry Graff (guitar/mandolin) better known to us as the talented Airy Larry from the Banana Slug Sting Band, Matt Hartle (guitar/banjotar) is in the house with his groovy vocals and spicy riffs, and last but not least, keeping the cadence cool is Roger Sideman (bass). Watch this video, taken from the Strawberry audience, to see Painted Mandolin deliver your familiar favorites with tremendous talent. Or better yet, check them out at the Freight & Salvage, with the Rita Hosking Trio, on January 5th. Either way, it’s going to be a great time on the Music Meadow with Painted Mandolin, not to be missed!
