Doug Blumer and Nancy Irish have been writing songs together for 30 years. Doug Blumer has been performing those songs across the US for 30 years as well.
For the last 20 years, however, Doug and Nancy have been performing them together. In many combinations and locations. Currently, they are enjoying a decade-long run with The Bohemian Highway, their 6-piece band, in Sonoma County, California. Their latest release, “Songs in the Key of Bees” was released on vinyl and CD in 2024.
They have thrived on the options available through co-writing all of the material and collaborating on the music and arrangements with their band.

Our band, The Bohemian Highway, has a song named “Bohemian Highway”. It distills, presents or tries to explain our outlook on the culture and future of West County ideas. As well as celebrating, honoring, & remembering the traditions we cherish.

Songwriting Collaboration and Letting Go
As the saying goes, “Two heads are better than one”. And it’s often true. Co-writing can be helpful and expeditious to move the process along. A larger pool of ideas to swim in.
But it can also mean that you don’t always have the ‘last word’ or final decision. That’s the ‘Letting Go’ part. There’s an art to working with and trusting a co-writer. And the results can be very rewarding. Let’s talk!
