We began as Fiddlestix, the official Strawberry Host Band, with wild and crazy jams on the balcony of our cabin, (#108?) just opposite Bathhouse C. Fiddlestix was the first band on stage in 1983 at the first Camp Mather festival. (Those were epically wild times, some of which we dis-remember.)
As we moved on, Camp Obey Bob found a home near the Rock in the Road, in a circle of cabins. There we established a jamming stage with rug, chandelier and Bodie Beer saloon backdrop, all controlled by our illustrious leader Cactus Bob Cole. Jammers were not allowed to turn their back on the audience, and Cactus Bob directed and arranged musical activities (ok, everybody go to E).
Camp members included Fiddlestix, Cactus Bob Cole Sarah Elizabeth Campbell, Dave Cavanagh and Chris Stevenson, aka Prairie Flower. Our Camp Obey Bob company included the Tom Jepson family, Kendall and Debbie & family, Michael Hornick of Shanti Guitars, Michael P. Kennedy family, and a revolving cast of dear friends.
When the festival moved to Grass Valley we have been located under the H on the map, near the older shower house. We love you all madly, hope we can gather again soon, see you in our dreams at Camp Mather! CB&PF~*~
