A San Francisco original, The Crooked Jades are celebrating their 10th studio album, Beautiful World, and three decades of music-making. Pioneers in bringing old-time music to contemporary audiences, the Jades continue to evolve their unique sound by exploring the roots of Americana, while pushing boundaries and blurring genres. Their fiery and soulful live performances, punctuated with eclectic vintage instrumentation, are full of unexpected sounds and influences and are sure to get audiences on their feet. Their music has taken them to festivals and concerts throughout North America, Europe and the UK. The Crooked Jades have collaborated with contemporary dance choreographers, Kate Weare Co. and Brenda Way of San Francisco dance company ODC. They are also featured on multiple film soundtracks including Sean Penn’s Oscar-nominated Into The Wild, and the 2023 award-winning documentary Call Me Mule.
The core of The Crooked Jades are co-founders Jeff Kazor (vocals/guitar/ukulele), Lisa Berman (vocals/slide guitar/banjo/harmonium), and Erik Pearson (vocals/banjos/ukulele/harmonium/slide guitar.) The current line-up features two sensational new band members. On fiddle is the phenomenal Amy Kassir hailing from Durham, North Carolina, who recently released her solo fiddle tune album. On bass is the multi-talented Joshua “JZ” Zucker, who brings a cinematic sensibility to the Jades’ sound.
The Crooked Jades will perform at the Fall 2026 Strawberry Music Festival on Sunday, October 18.
